Nikki Squires at Kiss Fitness came to my house once a week over a period of about 3 months…. During that time she helped me raise my fitness levels significantly… She organised a program for me that was engaging, fun and challenging. She provided me with a full and thorough health assessment report at the beginning of the course and we worked out goals and targets for us to work towards.

She arrived every week with a full schedule for us to work through. Every single week was completely different from the last… She bought different equipment every week. I first started training with Dan in May 2013 following a decision to lose weight, tone up and increase my overall fitness level. I have two training sessions with Dan every week, each lasting an hour. 

Before starting the personal training, Dan discussed my goals with me and prepared a tailor made programme for me to follow throughout my training and he regularly reviews this and monitors my progress to keep me on track.

No one training session with Dan is the same and they vary from Boxercise to resistance training to HIIT training and much more which certainly helps to keep my interest and motivation level high. I never thought I would say this but I actually look forward to my training sessions every week!

I decided to try some personal training as the kick start I needed

Before I got pregnant I was feeling much better about myself and more confident and had seen some great results on the scales and in my body measurements and I have Dan to thank for that, without his help it wouldn’t have happened.

Having been going to group exercise for a while I decided to try some personal training as the kick start I needed to lose some weight and tone up to fit into a bridesmaids dress at my friends wedding.

At the first initial consultation Dan helped me set my goals for what I wanted to achieve and got my first personal training session booked in for the following weekend. After the initial consultation Dan gave me a food diary so he could see my awful eating habits and see where I was going wrong and point me in the right direction to help me reach my goals. 

At the first personal training session Dan had geared it towards the exercises I like doing and pushed me into trying as hard as I could so I would feel the benefit from them, after every session you always feel like you have done the best you can and feel so much better about yourself. Every session you do something different which keeps it enjoyable and I look forward to each one. After my first initial starter pack had run out I was hooked on personal training and have now signed up to a session a month along side all the group exercises classes.

Even when I didn’t have a session with a Dan he was still always checking up on how I was doing and keeping me focused on what I needed to be doing and I knew I could always go to him if I needed any advice about anything.

Even though my circumstances have changed and I am no longer working towards the same goal due to the fact I am pregnant I am still carrying on my personal training sessions for as long as possible and Dan is ensuring I keep as fit and healthy as I can during my pregnancy and working around the exercises I can and can’t do.

I have not just lost 21KG* but now have a fitness level I can be proud of and am very determined to meet that 10km run target. I have dropped from a size 18/20 to a size 12/14 and I wore my bikini with pride on holiday for the first time this July

I first met Dan in January 2012 while Kiss Fitness were running Sturminster Newton Leisure Centre. I had returned to the gym after quite a few months. I was determined to do my own thing until I got to a certain level of fitness but, after a couple of weeks, Dan talked me in to following a programme specifically to improve my CV fitness and help with my determination to lose weight.

From the first day following Dan’s programme, I started to feel I was at last moving forward. Each time I visited the gym, I challenged myself and felt satisfied that with encouragement from Dan and Nikki, I had done my best and was getting the most from my workout. Dan regularly updated and changed my programme to keep me challenged, enjoying my sessions and working me harder as my fitness improved. I very soon felt real changes in my fitness level and it was fantastic when so many people noticed my changing shape.

When Dan and Nikki left the gym in Sturminster it was a blow to all of us. Having achieved so much with his guidance I decided to sign up for personal training sessions with Dan. I had every confidence that he would help me achieve my goals and keep me on the straight and narrow. After the initial consultation in May, we set my short term targets to aim for weight loss and toning prior to my holiday in July and a longer term target of a 10km charity run next year. How on earth did I agree to that one?!

Each personal training session I have had has been different and I actually look forward to rather than dread the sessions. I have to work very hard but in a strange sort of way it is fun, even when it rained for the whole hour of circuit style training! Dan knows just how much I can do, how far he can push me and encourages me all the way. If I try and slacken the pace, I get told to “stop winging and get on with it” but at the same time he will tell me when I am doing well.

Finances currently limit me to one session a month but in between sessions, Dan is continually updating the programme I follow at the gym, he monitors my weight loss through a food diary system and is always at the end of a phone or on email to keep up my motivation and encourage me all the way.

Since I have been working with Dan in January, I have not just lost 21KG* but now have a fitness level I can be proud of and am very determined to meet that 10km run target. I have dropped from a size 18/20 to a size 12/14* and I wore my bikini with pride on holiday for the first time this July. I can’t wait to buy my little black dress in a size 12 for this year’s Christmas parties. Thanks Dan, I couldn’t have done this without you and I will continue to look forward to our sessions.

This morning I am getting ready for a personal training session with Dan. I am looking forward to it and that is something that I certainly wouldn’t have said a few years ago! I am also wearing a Kiss Fitness t-shirt in a size small. The first one of these I was given was a large. For somebody who has worked so hard that is a good feeling and it prompted me to write this long overdue testimonial.

After decades of yoyo dieting and failed fitness regimes I have been working with Dan and Nikki at Kiss Fitness since January 2012. With their help I have made huge changes to my body in terms of weight and fitness and made a real difference to my life.

Unfortunately, last year I had 2 sprained ankles and a broken ankle, all of which took their toll on my workout schedule, effectively putting me out of action for the best part of 6 months of the year. My will power dropped, I really missed the exercise and my weight rose yet again.

So what’s changed this year? At Christmas I bought myself a few extra training sessions to give myself a good start to the New Year. I knew that if I didn’t make a change then, it would never happen. I started training with Dan once a week on a 1-1 basis and continued to do 3- 4 group exercise classes a week. We set achievable goals on a short and long term basis and Dan set about getting me fit once again and losing the excess weight. The first challenge was to strengthen the ankle and then work on the overall fitness.

So what has this Personal training done for me…

  • Between January and July I lost 10kg and 9% body fat*
  • I have learnt to love exercise
  • I have made “me time” a priority
  • My self esteem and confidence has risen considerably
  • My stress levels have dropped
  • I feel good!

As for the group exercise sessions…

  • I have made some great friends
  • I have so much fun with some truly lovely people with varying degrees of craziness!!
  • I know I will have a different well structured full body workout at each session
  • As a group we encourage each other
  • A regular schedule creates great habits
  • I am always motivated to try my hardest

I know I will be reminded of this many a time but I have to say, Dan is right! For ages he has been telling me to stop dieting and just eat properly. Having spent 2 years ignoring him, in January 2015 I stopped “dieting”. I eat regularly, a varied diet and as “clean” as I can, I enjoy my food and do not deny myself treats. I exercise once a week with Dan, enjoy the group sessions and work out independently following the online training programme that Dan regularly updates for me. I live life to the full. My weight has followed a downward trend and stabilized. I may not have lost as much as some people on the classic diet regimes but the difference in my body is immense and having made a lifestyle change I am no longer living in fear of it all going back on.

Ok, I gained a few pounds on holiday but who doesn’t?! I kept moving and enjoyed all the local hospitality (for it would be rude not) to but I wore my bikini with pride because I worked hard to feel confident enough to do so.

Every session is different and every session is motivating and challenging. I always feel the difference that the session has made and I always enjoy the buzz that working out gives me. I even like to feel the ”DOMS” the next day, pure evidence that I have worked hard and made a difference Sometimes Dan puts up with a lot of moaning from me, other times he shares my excitement if I have achieved my next goal. It is not unusual for me to swear at him if the session is particularly tough! We even had a bet one week on whether I would achieve a target and having smashed through it Dan publicly paid the penalty. I enjoyed watching those burpees Dan!!!

My goals are always moving because I have found I respond well to a challenge and a target. It’s no longer about the weight, it’s about my fitness and giving myself every chance in life. I want to still be enjoying Kiss fitness sessions for decades yet! And I have every intention of doing so!

We had a blast and the waistlines have certainly seen the benefit

Dan provided the know-how, encouragement and motivation to achieve our goals in a programme of do-able sessions. Working out together was seriously good fun.

My wife and I needed some serious mid life motivation to leave the safety of our sofa and venture out in search of a fitter  and healthier lifestyle. Dan provided the know-how, encouragement and motivation to achieve our goals in a programme of do-able sessions. Working out together was seriously good fun. The laughter helped and whilst neither of us will be entering professional athletics anytime soon, we had a blast and the waistlines have certainly seen the benefit of his efforts. Thanks Dan for your patience, good humour and flexibility in working at a pace we could sustain.

I have lost weight, lost inches and fit into clothes I haven’t wore in years

In the last couple months I have lost weight, lost inches and fit into clothes I haven’t wore in years. Not only have I achieved my first goals but I feel so much happy and confident in myself and the way I look.

I am 20 years old and currently going through the process of applying / joining the RAF and my biggest concern is getting through the fitness test. As a result my mum told me about Kiss Fitness and Dan, and suggested hiring him as a personal trainer to help me get fitter and stronger for the fitness test. It started with a consultation where Dan asksd every question he needed to know in order to get me to achieve my goals, from that he then drew up a plan and we went from there.

Before I had my first session I was very nervous and apprehensive as I have never been very fit and activate before, however I loved it and still loving it now. Dan does not take it easy on you, and certainly pushes you to the point of exhaustion, but by doing this you most definitely see and feel the results. I’m am also attending bootcamp and TRX classes that Dan runs, these are great and if people want to get fitter but don’t fancy doing personal training then go to a kiss fitness class, they are fun and social and get your heart racing!! In the last couple months I have lost weight, lost inches and fit into clothes I haven’t wore in years. Not only have I achieved my first goals but I feel so much happy and confident in myself and the way I look. I love to get dolled up and go out now whereas before I’d just stay in and do nothing. It’s been so great that I have just booked another 20 personal training sessions with Dan. Dan doesn’t just change you physically, he changes you mentally. Worth every penny and I would recommend to anyone! I am yet to do the fitness test however I am far more confident now than before and if I do pass it’s all down to Dan.

I am a Well mature lady ! Nikki and I have been working together in my own home, twice a week for an hour, for 3 months , and there are not enough words in my vocabulary for me to express how grateful I am to her, and how utterly different I feel.

I should say that I have also been on a weight-loss programme, and have been exercising myself at home. (You can’t change your weight and shape permanently unless you change your life-style permanently as well – took me 20 years to get that, thanks to Nikki’s quiet encouragement !).

I interviewed 3 other trainers before choosing Nikki. I quickly realised that I really liked her approach – not too bossy; very respectful of the pace that I wanted to start at; encouraging; motivating; constantly inventing new exercises so that I didn’t get bored, and making me laugh. Astonishingly I really enjoy myself.

If you had forecast 4 months ago that I would have a Brilliant personal trainer, voluntarily exercise 4 days a week on my own, and enjoy doing so, have lost nearly 4 stone* and would feel 15 years younger…. I would have told you to get lost !
